When GG Makes You Realise How Safe You've Been Playing It
Gossip Girl's a double edged sword for me. On the one hand, it stresses me out because nothing good ever happens. Well, it does, but not without two catastrophic events taking place in the mean time. On the other hand, it's a visual smorgasbord. I'm not just talking about the eye candy thanks to our good friends Chuck, Nate and the very recently off the market Lonely Boy (not so lonely now lonely boy xoxo). I'm also talking about the wild and wonderful fashion choices.
You had to give it to them, no matter where they're headed the ladies of Gossip Girl never had a hair out of place. I suppose that just must be what it's like to have a trust fund. I guess it also means you've got the kind of $$$ to experiment with fashion in the way that most of us do not. Like buying that pair of fluro yellow pumps, specifically to match the head band you've been wanting to wear.
I'm not saying they always got it right, in fact sometimes they got it so wrong it hurt to look at. But they went for it they committed and when it worked, it worked so damn well it made you want to burn your whole drab wardrobe and start again.
So here I am, watching re-runs (praise be to Netflix), seriously considering that I might be the most boring person in the world because I don't own a floor length gown. Okay I'm being a little dramatic. But let's be real, most of us can probably afford to take a few more risks when it comes to our day-to-day fashion. After all, isn't getting dressed supposed to be fun?
