Five Workwear Rules You Should Break In 2017.
Like heading into the gym with sweet new sneakers or passing your ex in your most fire look, walking into work with a boss outfit makes you feel just that (even if your RL boss has other ideas).
Week two is rolling around for those of us living the office lyf - and if you're already feeling the days slip by in a whirl of Nescafe and hellish Excel spreadsheets, it's time to shake things up on the style front.
Try some new approaches + earn yourself a promotion this year (at least in the wardrobe department).
Ditch the pencil skirt.
Midis, maxis, minis - any alternative has our vote (as long as you avoid Bridget Jones territory). If you're in a more corporate environment in your day-to-day, try a palazzo or cigarette style pant for a fuss-free alternative.
Reinvent the power suit.
Anna Wintour knows that co-ords never really go out of style. So show your allegiance to the Queen and get double for your money with top notch sets.
Leave the stilettos at home.
Not only do they make your commute from train to work dicey AF, stilettos are also basically your the worst enemy of your feet. This year, we're reaching for loafers, mules - and depending on how chill your job is - classic sneakers.
For freelancers or creatives - you might be already here. The key here is clothes that don't constrict your work but still look pulled together just in case you run into your next potential client. Flats (as above), quality denim, shift dresses, understated staple tees - options are endless, and much like your career, they're all in your hands.
Go hard on the details.
If your workplace is more of a blouse-and-pencil-skirt affair, add your own touch with texture + detailing. Think eyelets, neck ties + subtle patterns.
